13 of the district's 28 elementary schools have a Boise address.  At the time that Joint School District No. 2 was created in 1950, the city limits of Boise were considerably further to the east than they currently lie.  As the city grew and more areas were included in the city limits, the city of Boise crossed the line between the School District of the City of Boise and Joint School District No. 2.

Thus, some of the areas with the most complete development within Joint School District No. 2 are actually parts of western and southwest Boise.  The schools with Boise addresses are included in the list on the left-hand side of this page.
