What is a Magnet School?  A magnet school is a school of choice that offers a unique curriculum not available in current district schools.

Why a Science and Math Based Curriculum? At no time in history has improving science and math education been more important than it is today. Major policy debates about such topics as cloning, the potential for alternative fuels, and the use of biometric information to fight terrorism require a scientifically informed citizenry as never before in our nation's history. We need to know how students learn science and math so we can teach science and math effectively in our schools. We live in a time of extraordinary change.  New knowledge, tools, and ways of doing and communicating science and mathematics continue to emerge.  The need to understand and use science and mathematics in everyday life and the workplace has never been greater and will continue to increase.  In this changing world, those who understand science and can do mathematics will have significantly enhanced opportunities and options for shaping their futures.

Who Can Attend? The primary attendance area for Galileo is the part of Joint School District No. 2, that is North of Chinden Blvd and West of Cloverdale. Students living outside of this attendance area may attend if space is available.

How Are Students Enrolled?  Students are enrolled using a lottery, if more students sign up than there is space available in any given grade.  Applicants will be sent notification of the results.
